I have born in S. João da Madeira, Portugal in the year of 1967, and I have a Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in Applied Physics (Optics/Lasers and Electronics) by the Faculty of Sciences of University of Oporto, Portugal, and by the School of Physical Sciences of University of Kent at Canterbury, Kent, UK.
I am a Full Professor of Physics, Biophysics & Medical Technology at the University Fernando Pessoa (Porto, Portugal) and Scientific Independent Expert/Advisor of European Health & Digital Executive Agency (HeDEA) and for ICT (Information and Communication Technologies - Photonics Unit) at European Commission. I’m also member-collaborator of the Virtual Centre for Biomedical Optics, of the School of Physical Sciences of University of Kent, Canterbury, UK.
