I have born in S. João da Madeira, Portugal in the year of 1967, and I have a Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in Applied Physics (Optics and Electronics) by the Faculty of Sciences of University of Oporto, Portugal, and by the School of Physical Sciences of University of Kent at Canterbury, Kent, UK.
I am Associate Professor (with D.Sc. by FCUP/com Agregação pela FCUP) at the University Fernando Pessoa, Porto, Portugal, and Scientific Independent Expert of European Commission for ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) programme, in particular, for the Photonics area. I’m also member-collaborator of the Centre of Biomedical Optics, of the School of Physical Sciences of University of Kent, Canterbury, UK.
