Classification of Sedimentary Basins

Notice that divergent margins can be formed inside of a megasuture. In fact, since the lengthening behind a backarc area of a B-Type subduction zone is big enough to create a breakup of the lithosphere, a marginal sea and divergent margins are developed each side of the breakup zone. To differentiate these type of margin from the Atlantic-Type Divergent Margin, Albert Bally used to call them Non Atlantic-Type Divergent Margin. We can say, they are, more or less, equivalent to Mediterranean-Type Basins developed in association with an A-type subduction zone.
