Potential Source-Rocks
Backarc Basins without Oceanization
This Canvas autotrace is representative of the North offshore of the Bali island. The two tectonic-sedimentary phases make up the backarc basin. The stretching or rifting phase (characterized by differential subsidence) and the sag or cratonic phase (characterized by much more regional thermal subsidence). The potential generating petroleum sub-system is associated with half-grabens of the rifting phase. The backarc basins lying within the Meso-Cenozoic megasuture, are, more or less, inverted, creating, mainly, structural traps or morphological traps by juxtaposition. The anticline structure, induced by the shortening behind the volcanic arc, partially, visible in the northern part of this autotrace was tested, long time ago, by Amoco.
