Forearc Basins

The West Luzon geographic basin, illustrated on this tentative geological interpretation, is in forearc basin, in which the organic matter can reach the oil window, since the sedimentary column is around 4 seconds (t.w.t.). The outer arc high, which underlies to the eastern limit of the accretionary wedge, is, speculatively, interpreted as formed by forearc sediments. The extensional tectonic regime induced by the downward flexure of the oceanic crust (top of the B-subduction zone) is quite well visible near of the Manila oceanic trench, which is, partially filled by pelagite, i.e., by fine-grained sediments that accumulate as the result of the settling of sedimentary particles to the floor of the open ocean, far from land (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelagic_sediment).
