Zechstein (Salt)

The Zechstein evaporites were deposited in the Zechstein sea, an epicontinental or epeiric sea that existed in the Guadaloupian and Lopingian. European series (esp. in Germany): Upper Permian above Rotliegende containing the Thuringian stage.

The Zechstein  is a unit of sedimentary rocks  layers of Middle to Late Permian (Guadaloupian and Lopingian)  age located in th European Permian Basin  which stretches from the east coast of England to northern Poland.
