Madagascar Offshore
Zambeze Channel / Davie Ridge

On this highly falsifiable tentative geological interpretation, the Mozambique and Morondava geographic basin are separated by the Davie Ridge, which can be explain by uplift, shortening and volcanic intrusions developed in an overriding plate of a B-type subduction zone (see Page 66). In such hypothesis, the Mozambique geographic basin corresponds to the Atlantic-type divergent margin, in which the Zambeze submarine fan was deposited (near the Davie ridge), while the Morondava geographic basin, westward of Davie ridge can be considered as a kind of backarc basin.
