Colombia Offshore

Sinu Offshore

On this manual autotrace of a composite seismic line (Sinu Geographic Basin, in offshore, and Sinu / St. Jacinto geographic basin, in onshore), illustrates westward of the Romeral Suture Zone (regional boundary between the continental autochthone to the east and exotic / paralic-autochthonous oceanic terranes to the west) the development of an inner accretionary wedge (Paleocene-Oligocene) and an outer accretionary wedge (Miocene-Pliocene) in association with subduction of the oceanic crust of the Colombia geographic basin. Note westward of the Romeral suture zone, a Neogene retro-flexural basin, developed in the overriding lithospheric plate, in which the thrust belt does not migrate toward the basin.
